Bison: Fine Letterpress Printing & Quality Handmade Books
About Bison

Bison Bookbinding & Letterpress is a community-based, eco-friendly print shop located in Bellingham, WA.

Combining modern technology with the centuries-old tradition of letterpress printing, Bison creates a multiplicity of artistic, high quality and unique hand-printed materials.

Bison supports the continuing evolution of printmaking, using soy-based inks, low-impact solvents, handmade and recycled papers, antique pressroom machinery, and cutting-edge photopolymer plates.

With our Little Critter paper beater from New Zealand, we create custom handmade papers suitable for printing, watercolor painting, calligraphy or any of your artistic endeavors.

Bison provides book restoration services and an array of hand bindery options for limited edition books, annual reports, photo albums, and all manner of texts.

Our growing list of services includes wedding invitations, hand-built books, poetry broadsides, business cards, letterhead and other promotional materials, show posters, CD packaging, form printing, limited edition texts, unique protective boxes for valuable objects, and more. We thrive on challenges, and offer a full range of design and aesthetic consultation services to bring your vision to life.

As Bison grows, we plan to expand as a printer's resource center, renting time on our Vandercook SP15 letterpresses, and offering classes in printmaking and book arts for cultural creatives in our community.

Come in for a tour of our shop and we'll discuss the past, present, and future of fine printing.
